Uses of Magnet


Magnet are highly useful in modern life. The use of magnets are carried out in the home, businesses, schools, transportation, science, and medicine. It is truly amazing how useful magnets have become! Magnets are objects that attract other matter containing iron or steel. Magnets have their strongest capabilities at their poles.

As a matter of fact, magnets are so powerful that they can pass through many materials. That's why we're able to display our great school work on our home refrigerator using magnets. The magnet's force is able to pass through paper. 

Other than that, a magnet is operates the motor in a refrigerator. The door of refrigerator also closes with the help of a magnet.

According to Chinese inscriptions in 2000 BC, 'lodestones' were used in acupuncture treatments. Hindu sacred writings also refer to the use of 'lodestones' in the treatments of disorders. Likewise, the Greeks and the Egyptians also utilized them to cure various diseases. Ancient physicians described how magnets had the ability to cure melancholy, arthritis, and baldness.Nowadays, tectonic magnets are used by many sportsmen to reduce or relieve pain. They are placed on the innersoles of shoes, and are designed in such a manner that they would make contact with the acupressure points present on the soles of the feet. This technique is proven to be helpful for the feet, especially on long walks. Magnetic mattress pads also provide relaxation to the body, and are very helpful for insomniacs. Magnetic beds are used to provide easiness to the nervous system, which may make a person emotionally and physically loosened up. Magnets are also used in X-Rays, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology, which enables one to know how body tissues respond to the magnetic fields.

A compass uses a magnet to direct its needle to the north pole. This is why magnets are said to have a north and south pole. The side that is attracted and points to the north is called the north pole, while the other end is the south pole.

The Light Rail Transit (LRT) use magnets under the cars to float above the magnetic tracks because the magnets are repelling each other. These types of trains use super conducting magnets. LRT trains are used in countries such as Japan, and the United States government is working on bringing the technology to America.
